1 Corinthians 9:26 (NLT) says, “I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step.”
To become the person God has intended for you to be, you will need commitment. The Bible compares our commitment to that of a race. We run “in such a way that you may obtain it.” Three things about commitment you must understand.
1. Commitment can change your life.
Decisions decide destinies. We are shaped by the decisions we have made. That is why it is vital for us to make up our mind to serve the Lord. There is an old saying that goes like this, “if you stand for nothing – you will fall for anything.” Commitment forces you to make a choice and therefore, make a stand.
2. Your commitment will be tested – daily.
There will always be something or someone to come and try to test your resolve to your commitments. Don’t fall for the tricks of the enemy. Be ready for whatever may come to try and separate you from your decision to follow God completely. Your faith in God will over-ride the plan of the enemy.
3. Commitment helps you overcome life’s obstacles.
It is impossible to avoid obstacles in life. We will have to make adjustments along the way. The key to victory, success and happiness in this life is found in the ability to stay committed even in denial and defeat. Hebrews 11:6 reminds us, “God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
Let God help you today. Make a decision to follow God no matter what may come your way. He will help you! Remember, “The Best Is Yet To Come!”
